The 29th Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF) has opened in the Ugandan capital of Kampala, attracting a total of 920 exhibitors from about 30 countries.
The annual trade fair themed “Driving Manufacturing and Trade Efficiency Through Digital Transformation and Innovation,” is scheduled to run from Oct. 3 to 10 at Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) showgrounds.
Executive Board Chairman of UMA Deo Kayemba told reporters in an interview on Wednesday that the trade fair is a platform for traders to promote the latest innovations among start-ups and facilitate business networking.
“The UGITF also creates opportunities for business investors and stakeholders to connect and explore partnerships that can accelerate the adoption of digital technology and innovative solutions,” said Kayemba.
The UGITF is an annual event that plays a leading role in facilitating trade and business exchange among participating countries from East and Central Africa, and other foreign countries. It provides an exciting platform and business window for the introduction of new and improved technologies targeted at local and regional markets.
The trade fair exhibits agricultural products, food and beverages, textiles, garments, manufacturing equipment, building materials, and automobiles. It is also a business platform for chemicals and cosmetics, timber and furniture, trade services, engineering products, machinery, information technology, handicrafts, consultancy, and training.
